Farmer's Market, Truman Waterfront

For a long time now, I've been saying we must go check out the farmer's market which is held weekly in Truman Annex near the kid's waterpark and the coastguard ship Ingham.  We had nothing on this Thursday so we figured this was the week to do it.  It was great!! We will definitely be back - probably twice a month we are thinking

L-R Cheese made with Welsh ale and mustard seeds, aged cheddar, Indian lamb samosas, chili & mint chutney (which can also be used as marinade) and little mini toasts from France.

Fish on! Part ????

After our lovely road trip, I guess we just weren't quite tired enough so decided to push the boat out (d'ya geddit) and nip out for a few hours before sunset.  We always do that!!! Push and push, and by the end of the weekend are completely exhausted.  Ah sure, look, isn't life for living?!

For our efforts I was rewarded with THIS.  A fabulous big grouper, which was unfortunately not big enough!!!! He had to be thrown back in sob, sob, sniffle sniffle.  But wonderful sport bringing him in.  I was delighted with the catch.

Instead of dining on grouper we caught a few lane snapper which Patrick fileted and made into a fish curry - using a lovely marinade that we bought at the farmer's market on Thursday.  We both really liked it. This is going to become a regular: fileting the fish versus eating a whole fish.

I feel really lucky that we both share a hobby/love for fishing.  And eating the catch!

Inter Miami FC v Toronto FC Drv Pink Stadium

We took a little trip in the jeep up to Fort Lauderdale/Miami to see a football (sorry, soccer!!) match this weekend.  I may or may not have been enticed into this football watching thing by the chance of seeing David Beckham.  He does after all own Inter Miami FC.
Delighted with how the jeep handled the drive.  To be fair it felt like it almost needed the stretch and responded accordingly.  We stayed in a hotel, just a 5 minute walk from the stadium - the stroll being right alongside the concourse/runway of the executive airport was a bonus. I do love aircrafts, especially private jets, lol!  And Patrick RELAXED at the hotel! Imagine!!! He actualy lay by the pool both on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
The less said about the football the better.  It was not a good score for Toronto FC.  But it was some quality play, heck you'll take what you can.
And of course I just loooooove stadium food and drinkies :)
We were home early Sunday afternoon - in time to sneak out for a few hours fishing - all in all a lovely little get away!

Hey! We saw David Beckham,  To assist you in seeing him, I've added a helpful arrow to this photo

Why does it look like I photoshopped myself into a random football stadium?!

Water weekend

I enjoyed a fabulous day out on the water yesterday celebrating Megan and her birthday.  The weekend of water first started on Thursday evening with some excitement...

Thursday evening:
Patrick went out with our friend Joe on his boat hunting for snapper.  At about 8pm I got a text from Joe's wife Emily saying the boat battery had failed but that everything was ok.  She invited me over to their house to wait for them to come in... aka Pool Time and Chats with her :)

Anyway! All's well that ends well.  Joe called his tow boat service and they came out and were able to charge the battery.  They made it in (in the dark) by the light of a flashlight and their phones.  And Emily and I were there in the pool as they pulled up to their dock beside it!
The next day there were lots of jokes flying around about these: Widow Walks Of Key West | Shoestring Weekends Blog (wordpress.com)

Friday:
Patrick had a day off and went out with Garrett and Dave trolling for big fish.  Look at the monster he caught!  Mahi Mahi, one of the finest fish of the Florida Keys

Saturday:
Patrick went to Cudjoe Key to get my fishing rod repaired.  Thank you!

Sunday:
A fabulous day out on the water! As can be seen by all the photos below.

I'd never been on a pontoon boat before!  It is slow but worked brilliantly for a group and for a the activity.

Individual key lime pies! Made by Jenni from limes and vanilla grown in her garden!!

It was like herding kittens getting this group photo!

Loads of great food.  Not shown here: Matt & Jenni's cheese and meat platter, Megan and Chris' Dion's chicken and our sushi

Snipes Key

Bubbles! Always nice for celebrating

Timmy. Adorable personality, very well behaved

New work computer

I've had an old inherited computer for two years now.  And while it has never been fast, recently it has just been getting slower and slower.  My boss ordered me a new one and it arrived promptly 2 days later - quite amazing seeing how a lot of things are on back order/delayed at the moment.  Our IT dept set it up overnight and I arrived in the next day to a fully functional and beatiful new pc.  And fast!
