As you might know from my previous post, it is Stone Crab Season!
And what is needed to catch stone crab? Bait
And what bait do we use? Pigs feet
We normally buy our bait from Fausto's but Patrick's friend told him about the Lobster Co in Stock Island where you can buy Pigs Feet in bulk.
60lbs is heavy lifting!
60lbs for $40 = good deal
Do you see that big canopy? Underneath are a line of tables which is where I think they lay out and process the lobsters. We also so cold storage rooms with lobster tanks filled with bubbling water
Jeepers. Here it is. Point to note (although) I think you can almost judge from this pic, printed across the box were the words: "Inedible. Not for Human Consumption"
We let this defrost a little and put 6 into individual bags - we have 6 traps so will bait with one of these in each trap. Normally we need to put 3 or 4 of the Faustos smaller (and "cleaner") ones into each trap. But based on the size of these just one will do. Crazy
