Sugarloaf Lodge

We got off the rock for a little getaway, which I admit does pose the question do you really need to take a vacation from an island where people go to vacation?  Probably not I say, and in fact we were dying to get home the next day, but that doesn't mean we had anything but a wonderful time.

We stayed at a quirky little hotel that I had my eye on.  Sugarloaf Lodge is located on Sugarloaf Key which is about 20 miles away from us.  Our room had a lovely view of the ocean and was warm...but yes, quirky, read old and dodgy lol. Just the way I like 'em lol! Clean though! MUST be clean!!

We ate that night in Mangrove Mamas and it was really really good. Great atmosphere - although we stayed in a dining room separate to the bar, that was just us within it, to stay safe - we could hear the vibe though and it felt good.  And wonderful food! I had Shrimp Coquille St Jacques and I just loved it.  Patrick got paella with a Cuban vibe which he too loved.

The next morning we drove home, stopping at Baby's Coffee on the way.

10/10.

Hello

Well hello there!

I have not blogged for a while for a combination of reasons.

Firstly I was on holidays in Key West, Florida so I always I would do less blogging than usual over the last two weeks.  However I could not connect my laptop to the wifi so unfortunately there was literally no blogging whatsoever.

Secondly, the night before I was flying out my phone, which I use for taking photos and immediate uploading died a death*.
So I took a lot of photographs with dad's camera, and I now have them loaded on the laptop, but now I need to arrange uploading them and doing blog posts about my trip.

This weekend I will hopefully get a few posts up about wonderful Key West.

*"Died a death" - a unique Irish way of saying something methinks :-)

Vacation Planning Time!

My family and I are planning a big holiday to Key West in June of this year!

When we go to KW (and we go alot!) we normally stay in a beautiful "conchy" cottage called Bahama Breeze.

It is the perfect place for groups of two or four people; good size bedrooms, hot tub (fun!) and margerita mixer - I love a cocktail on the deck in the evenings.

This year because we are a bigger group we are looking to get a bigger house.  We are looking at a two storey house with a small swimming pool which will be great.

The location of the new house is "okay".  Not quite as good as Bahama Breeze's location which is just off Duval, but good all the same - hey it's Key West, you are never really too far from anything in KW, right?!

Oh my!  That photograph up there is getting me excited already for our vacation!
