Today - What I did

 God, I was busy today.  This was my morning

- Doctors Appointment, nothing major, just my regular check up

- Bank visit to discuss interest rates to see if we can make our money work more

- Visited the Driver License's office and attempted to renew my Florida ID or get a Florida driving license.  Long story short, I couldn't do either and it looks like I need to do a computer test and driving test to transfer my Irish license to a US one.

TJ Maxx - bought a ton of new Pretties.  Ahahahahahahahah.  Are you thinking, what the heck are you on about Amy?  Article here.

- Post Office.  Posted a parcel to Ireland for Alice and a parcel to Enid in Spain.

- Ross: checked if Ross got any new shoes in.  I need a new pair for work.  Nada.

- Dennys. Monday: it's got to be pancakes and New Yorker time

- Went online to renew my fishing licence but the issue with my drivers impinged on this.  So next Monday my priority is getting the ID/licence situation sorted

I think that is it!

Shed cleaning (again)

 Sigh. I cleaned the shed. Again.  

It had got full. Again.

This has to stop!  I did make some good progress today though - I got rid of 4 chairs that I had stored in the shed because I just could not bring myself to throw them out.  They were vintage 1950 garden table chairs. Very cute! You can imagine why I didn't want to throw them out. But we simply have too many chairs already in our garden.  So I knocked into our new neighbour next door and offered them to her.  Success! She loved them. 

I've made a pact with myself that if the shed gets full again, same as above, I need to throw some items out while cleaning again.

More DIY!

Following on from my busy day of DIY yesterday, I did a little more today!

 

Project 1

The sign on top of the shed had fallen off.  Seems like it was just attached with cement glue or something.  So I got out my trusty new Milwaukee drill and screwdriver and I screwed it down

Project 2

I painted the wood that I had screwed to cover up a hole in the shed - see yesterday's blog for pics

Project 3

We got new back doors - hurricane proof ones.  The paint around the frame got damaged during the install so today I touched that up and it looks good I think!

Productive Day on Duval!

This morning being "my Sunday" (Nb. I don't work Monday's.  BUT I do work Saturdays) I got up early and started on some chores.

First up, I got a new battery for my watch.  I've been watch-less for a while now, and it's been reeeeeeally bugging me.  Feels good to have a timepiece back on my person!

Afterwards I spent a little time in Gap and Banana Republic.  I also took a little stroll in to Coach. Just.For.A.Look you understand.

Town is busy it has to be said!  It's good to have the tourists back from an economic perspective but I  did find it a little jarring....walking around Gap when you are used to having it to yourself...I was surprised how territorial I felt lol.

I then took a trip up the library on Fleming.  It's a cute little library, but I guess big by island standards.  I returned my Elin Hilderbrand - a couple of days late but the 10c per day fine was waived "you have a few days grace".  I borrowed two more books and have got stuck into them since - one of them I brought to the beach this afternoon.

Segueing nicely, let me tell you how delightful of an afternoon I had at the beach!  The weather, after the blistering heat of the Summer, is just perfect at this time of the year.  I had a good book as I already mentioned.  And I had the most beautiful lunch of home made kedgeree.

Life is good!

Busy day!

Today was a GOOD day!  

I got a lot of (dirty) old chores done and a few new ones done too.  Plus also I had a nice catch up with some family.

The day didn't start out well, I had a bad nights sleep and then woke up very early. I had arranged to meet Kasey (cousin) and Enid for coffee at 10am in the towncentre and being completely honest I wasn't feeling great setting off.  But it was a lovely day and it soon felt good to be up and out.

On my way over to the towncentre Katie (little sister) texted to say she was there also so she said she'd meet us as well.  We had a nice coffee and then went into a few nice shops: Waltons where we looked at all their great musical instruments (Katie is looking for a new keyboard), Home Store and More (I bought Kate a Vanilla Lime yankee candle - that's my favourite; it reminds me of Key West) and then Harry Corry where I bought two blackout  blinds.

I also bought some baking soda and salt to tackle my icky shower drain.  See below (it ain't pretty)

First I did my usual removal of the hair gunge from the shower.  Where does it all come from???

Then I poured the baking soda down the drain, and the salt down on top of it.  I then emptied a kettle of boiling water and it satisfyingly bubbled away.  I then ran the shower for about 5 minutes to clear it all out.

Bit of a difference I think you will agree.

Sparkling clean!

Also today I  also installed two blinds in the bedrooms.
