Saturday Yoga

Made it to the hot room on Saturday morning!

Not without a little push though, if I am completely honest.  On Friday night (yes, maybe after an adult beverage or two), I announced that I would "probably go to 9am yoga class".

Well, come Saturday morning, I think you can predict that I was not feeling as motivated.  Nothing to do with the adult beverages, I just struggle with getting to yoga, once I am there and afterwards of course I love it.

Patrick goes to me, "didn't you say you were going to yoga this morning?".  Well, once it is out in the open, it is very hard to admit that what you said before may have been a little enthusiastic compared to your mindset now.   So I WENT!  And yes, as always, of course it was wonderful.

Toga! Toga! Toga!

Oops!  Yoga! Sorry, I mean yoga.

I went to a bikram class today, and wow it was great.  It must be about two or three years ago since I last went and while I expected my flexibility to be poor, what shocked me was how my strength had diminished too.  Not good!

It is a quirky studio!  The hot room is pretty standard but there's lots of other good stuff going on - nice sitting area with lots of interesting books, a notice board where you can pin your intentions for the week ("Just Be" was one of my favourites).  And the changing rooms! Well that needs a photo to be described properly I think.

Ladies on the left, Men on the right.  Thick canvas sheets hung using bamboo logs and rope.  Kind of cool I think. Plus I guess they can be lowered/removed opening the studio into a large space for events etc.

I have signed up for the two week special ($39) so I am going to go as much as possible over the next fortnight - tomorrow for starters!

Studio with a view

Myself and Enid joined a new Bikram Yoga studio this week.  Dublin City Bikram is based in the heart of the city on Drury Street.

While the studio's facilities (the changing room) are very (VERY) small and pokey, the yoga studio itself is fine.  The one thing that I like about this studio compared to any other yoga studio I've been to is the view!

So great for the mind and body, doing yoga with this in your eye line.

Bikram Yoga is a challenging class made up of 26 poses performed in an intense hear of approx 105f.

This is me before the class started looking pretty cool and comfortable.

And this is me after.
Hot and sweaty!  But very happy.

Ps.  When Colin Farrell is at home in Dublin he practices Bikram - I will keep an eye out for him at the studio!
