Saturday Yoga

Made it to the hot room on Saturday morning!

Not without a little push though, if I am completely honest.  On Friday night (yes, maybe after an adult beverage or two), I announced that I would "probably go to 9am yoga class".

Well, come Saturday morning, I think you can predict that I was not feeling as motivated.  Nothing to do with the adult beverages, I just struggle with getting to yoga, once I am there and afterwards of course I love it.

Patrick goes to me, "didn't you say you were going to yoga this morning?".  Well, once it is out in the open, it is very hard to admit that what you said before may have been a little enthusiastic compared to your mindset now.   So I WENT!  And yes, as always, of course it was wonderful.

Hot Yoga in Key West and Stock Island

I am just coming out of a two week stint of neck and shoulder (mainly neck) pain and two weeks of NSAID's treatment.  I can't say for definite if the pain is 100% gone, and indeed if gone forever :(  But definitely it is way, way better than a fortnight ago.

To continue to aid in its recovery I vowed to get in two yoga classes this week.

First up, I went to Fyt Gym on Stock Island.

It's a ritzy hipstery place.  Jammed full of men and women who look like they were flown in from Miami straight from Wilhelmina Models.  Eeek.  Not intimidating at all lol.

Ah I am exaggerating.  They all were stunning looking but really nice too.  Not intimidating.  Friendly and professional.  And omg what a buzz and energy in the place!

The yoga was hot but a kind of flow yoga, which while new to me was very enjoyable.

This morning I went back to my regular studio "Mata Yoga".  It is only down the road so nice that I can cycle there.  It is a lot less glitzy, but more my pace I have to say.  And it is proper hot Bikram yoga which I adore.  Absolutely adore.

So, how is the neck?  Pretty much the same tbh :(
Watch this space.  And cross your fingers for me please!

Ps.  A thought.  Is this what old age is????

One month of yoga

Today was my last class of my month long sign up for bikram. I went with zest and passion for the first three weeks, and for a little less passion in the last week.  On that basis, I am going to take a week or two (or three) off, and when I am ready to commit again, I shall sign up for another month.

Not a great pic but I thought you might like to see this cool poster in my studio. And I must say, after my month, I do feel great.  And hopefully look great too sure!

Be well. Namaste.

Manic Monday

Following my action packed Sunday,  I continued Monday in the same vein...

...starting with a Bikram Yoga class at noon

Have I told you that my studio includes your mat and towel in the cost for every class?  So handy not having to think about them and carrying on your bike etc.  Big thumbs up!

I was going to go straight from yoga to a whiskey tasting class in General Horseplay, but tbh that was probably a little ambitious of me.  I was (happily, it must be said) exhausted after class, plus I also was a seriously hot sweaty mess.  I went home and jumped straight in the pool and then had the longest loveliest outdoor shower.

I chilled out for the afternoon until approx. 5.30pm when I hopped on my bike and headed to the bookstore for a book signing and reading by Meg Cabot - of her new book No Judgements.

She was FABULOUS!  Entertaining, charming and informative.
I bought the book and am looking forward to reading it on the beach, on my mini vacation in Key Largo this weekend!  I do love a signed book :)

I ended another wonderful day in Paradise with dinner in Sister Noodle House on Roosevelt.

I got pork dumplings - which came out like bao buns - and a seaweed salad.  I really, really liked it.  Different to any other food I have eaten since arriving to Key West, and VERY different to anything you can get in Ireland.  Nice change of pace!  We'll be back.
