Cero Mackerel

Yesterday was literally the one good boat weather day so we jumped on it!  Good job too, because is raining really heavily, all day.

We headed out past Sunset Key towards Hemingway's Stilts and set up our trolling rods.  A few little bites but nothing catching. We described the fish as "very tentative today".  Finally however we got this nice little (20 inch) Cero Mackerel. Nice!

Considering the weather we decided to push on and go check our crab traps - we were happy with this little haul of 4 nice sized ones.

We were pretty tired after that morning! We were going to go to Martin's for happy hour but decided to go casual to Half Shell where we shared a dish of clams, mussels, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn.  Mmmm!

Fish on!

It being Memorial day and Patrick having a day off we went out fishing again this morning.  This time I was able to fish!

And boy were the fish Gods smiling on me!

Two fine yellowtail snapper! One 13 inches and the other a pudgey 14.5incher.

I was quite delighted with them as I think you can see from the photos.  Patrick cleaned them when we got home and we are going to have them for dinner tomorrow evening (tonight we are going to Shanna Key for a bite).  

We joke: Amy hooks 'em, Patrick cooks them :)

Yellow tail snapper

 Fun times in the little baby boat continue, with plenty of fishing and crabbing ahoy!

We had a great day at the weekend where, amongst plenty of others, Patrick landed this sweet 14 inch yellowtail snapper.

Seasoned with olive oil, garlic, lemon and rosemary and fried up on the barbecue made for a lovely dinner.
