Ikea Customer Service

My new "Lovbacken" table arrived from Ikea yesterday.  I love it's classic retro design.

Disappointingly it had a small bit of damage:

In real life the flaw is probably not as bad as it appears here.

Ikea's customer service, in my opinion, were excellent to deal with.  I chatted to a rep online and they offered me three options 1. They would pick up and refund 2. They would pick up and replace 3. They would give credit of approximately 20% back to my bank account.

I went for option 3. I couldn't face packing it up, waiting for collection and replace etc. And, like I said, the damage is not that bad in real life.  I can live with it.

Den, done

There!
That's it.  My Lovbacken table arrived and that's it, this room is finished.  Plain and simple, the way I like it. God, how much do I abhor home decorating!

Ikea hack - new picture for my wall

One canvas picture from ikea (€35)
Material of your choice from ikea (€12)

Use staple gun and cover canvas with new "canvas" (material)

et voila!!!!

I couldn't find my spirit level so I couldn't hang the picture tonight but I am so excited about how it turned out  that I am including this photo to give you an idea of it when hung.

I am so happy with it!
I think it is quite 1960's / mid 20th century in look.  And I like the flashes of red in it.

The finished product!

Lovbacken table!!!!

These photos do not capture the fabulousness of my new occasion table from Ikea!

The Lovbacken table is a reproduction of an original three legged leaf table from 1956.
Originally called the Lovet table, it was one of the first flat pack products which Ikea sold when the designer unscrewed the legs to pack it.

I have been planning a new sitting room for my house (oh for only the last five years!!!) and this piece is going to play a big part in that design.

Edit (04/03/14).
