Retro Ice bucket (vintage)

I am so delighted! My vintage "Britvic" pineapple ice bucket holder has arrived from Ireland!

I love this guy :) I first saw one of these in my friend's holiday home in Wexford - it was her aunt's, an original from the 1960's.  As soon as I saw it I was on a mission to find one for myself (at the right price) and finally I found one in the Dublin flea.  It was the princely sum of euro40, which at the time felt at the upper end of my budget, but ten years later feels like the bargain of the century.

"Entertaining in Singapore"

I may or may not have pulled this book out of some trash that my neighbor had ready to be collected and dumped.

It's an absolute gem!

Published by the American Women's Association of Singapore - seems to be expat diplomat's wives from what I can make out.

I cannot find a year anywhere on it.  Judging from some of the photos I would say it was printed/self published around the early 1980's
I myself, had the page boy hair style of the child on the left around 1982.

Fish moolie sounds good!

Decorated sugar cubes sound only delightful!

Anyone out there in interwebs world recognize any of these women??  Get in touch!

Shopping Saturday

We were up nice and early this morning - I went and watched our neighbours doing a 5km park run.  After the run (10am) I got a lift over to the towncentre where I treated myself to a nice breakfast, coffee and a small bit of shopping.

There are some good sales on so I enjoyed the potter.  I was happy to see wrapping paper in Marks & Spencers reduced from €4.75 to €1.75 so I picked up a couple of rolls which I have now thrown into the Christmas tree bag for next year.

I was especially happy with this cute little Bev Ridge (geddit?!) caddy from Debenhams

I saw it last week when it was €10, reduced from €20.  Today I got it for €6

It came with some lovely hand wash, hand cream and nail files.  And while I'll use these products this wasn't the main reason for me buying this caddy.

I  am going to use it as part of my "barphanelia"!
It will be used to store my sugar for making caiproskas.  Doesn't it look well displayed on my drinks cabinet with the cute vintage Britvic pineapple ice bucket!

Adorable glassware!

Enid & I dropped over to Ikea today.  It had been a long time since we'd been there together.
We found the most adorable glasses!!!!

Pretty pink flamingos and luscious looking pineapples!

It makes me very happy to see them in my kitchen press.
