Afternoon Cycle

Rather than squander my day in bed (which is a normal Saturday for me) I decided to get my bike and cycle to Starbucks - not for exercise, just purely to do something and to get some fresh air.

It was very enjoyable cycling along!
Although I must say it felt very odd getting on my bike, had to really adjust to it. The only bike I have been on recently is  Dublin Bikes, and I obviously have got used to the feel of them.

Here is a picture of my lovely (Huffy) bike outside the Starbucks.
I won this bike in a cake baking competition two years ago!
I don't use it enough :-(

I had a drip(filter) coffee with slim line milk.  It was nice.

The surroundings however were not so nice.
The old Starbucks I used to go to - in New Look in Blanchardstown Retail Park - has closed.
So I went to Starbucks beside the Omniplex.  It is quite small and it was very noisy.

One great thing about all Starbucks though is the Free Wifi.  So once I got used to the noise I had a nice afternoon surfing the web.  And then I had a nice cycle home.

All in all a good afternoon.

Detox Day 3

Day 3 and still going good!
Heading into the weekend though so I really need to focus to make sure I stick with it.

BREAKFAST:

LUNCH:
Butternut squash soup, turkey, chicken, egg mayonaise.
I only ate half the chicken and half the mayonaise...

DINNER:

Small amount of butternut squash soup with extra chili flakes, mmmm.
Whiting fish.

The whiting was okay - a little bit bland and a little bit rubbery - I had to add a lot of lemon, salt & pepper to it (a huge amount of pepper). I cooked it in the oven in a tinfoil parcel.

SNACK:

Sweet Potato to nibble on while watching the Late Late Show.
Anything to stop me thinking of chocolate!

What are your thoughts on my diet so far?  Will I lose weight do you think?

Cooked down, chili flakes added and blitzed with the blitzer

Low fat milk added for flavour and creaminess

Detox Day 1

Well today is Day 1 of my New Year diet and I am feeling good!
Of course I am, it's only day 1.
Come back to me in a week and see how I am feeling!

For breakfast I had porridge in work.

LUNCH:
This is low fat Tomato & Basil soup - 50 calories per serving.  It was a small serving but a very nice thick soup.  I then had some chicken breast - 75 calories.
So all in all, a 125 calorie which is ridiculously low.
I don't think I will be able (or should) keep that up - I am sure it is not healthy.

DINNER:
Joking!!

I came home and looked in the fridge.  I swear for a second I completely forgot I was on a diet.  In my head I was like "yesssss, I'll have that".

And then I remembered I was on a diet so I had this instead :-(
Two poached eggs, one slice of toast, salt & big load of pepper.

I am going to bed now before I am tempted to eat more.

Tomorrow I am going to plan my exercise schedule.

TV Heaven - Recycling: where all good TV's go

As you know I bought a new tv (which is FANTASTIC!!) a couple of days ago.
The old tv has been languishing in the kitchen - i was going to take it to our local Recycling Centre in Coolmine.

I had planned on going to Ikea today so I was browsing their website to see if there was anything interesting on offer.  No real items of interest except that I noticed they do recycling.  For free - i would have had to pay €8/9 to bring the tv to Coolmine.

Aww it was kind of pitiful seeing the old tv go off on it's final journey!

In the lift, which is "wrapped" in a poster to look like you are in a kitchen.

Aww poor lonely tv.

From here, it will be taken to a recycling plant and stripped apart.  Better than landfill I guess.
Good job Ikea taking recycling :-)
